Rancilio Group’s collaboration with Re-Cig® continues to generate tangible impacts in sustainability and the circular economy. Celebrating its third consecutive year, the initiative dedicated to the collection and recycling of cigarette butts at company facilities has confirmed the effectiveness of the “Smokers Point” model, as emphasized by Nicolò Liso, HSE-Sustainability Manager & RSPP at Rancilio Group, transforming one of the most common types of waste into a valuable resource.
The Re-Cig® Annual Report highlights significant results: 18.02 kg of cigarette butts were recovered, preventing harmful substances such as nicotine and heavy metals from contaminating soil and groundwater. The material collected corresponds to 60,061 cigarette equivalents and, thanks to an innovative regeneration process, produced 7.03 kg of Re-CA®, a technical plastic ready for circular design and production, reducing the use of virgin resources.
Furthermore, avoiding landfill or incinerator disposal saved 41.99 kg of CO₂ equivalents, contributing to the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint.
“The partnership with Re-Cig® confirms how environmental responsibility and innovation can be integrated, creating a virtuous model in which material recovery promotes regeneration and sustainability,” concludes Liso. Every kilogram recovered by partner companies represents a concrete step in the fight against pollution, transforming tobacco waste into value.
